Environmental professionals can be involved in many tasks within the resources sector. They assess the impact on air, water, soil and noise levels in areas near resources sector operations, and plan and design equipment and processes for the treatment and safe disposal of waste materials.
- Develop ways of minimising harm to the environment, based on the study and assessment processes, environmental legislation and physical, biological, social and cultural environments
- Undertake laboratory work, analysing pollutants, identifying their sources and assessing their effects
- Monitoring and evaluating the environmental and social impacts of engineering projects and development activities
- Rehabilitating land, water and air affected by resources sector operations
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. This could be a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Environmental Engineering or a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering
