Avg. Salary: $80,000 - $130,000
A Bachelor of Engineering typically takes three years of undergraduate study and one year of honours for a total of four years
Facility engineers use engineering skills, in particular mechanical engineering skills and knowledge to ensure the operation of their facility is operating at an optimum. This can include planning, designing and overseeing the development, installation, operation and maintenance of machinery. They conduct research to solve practical engineering problems and improve efficiency.
- Design new machines, equipment or systems, taking into account cost, availability of materials, strength and maintenance requirements
- Consider the appearance of the designs as well as the impact on the user and on the environment
- Use computer-aided design to assist in design and drawing
- Supervise the operation of process plants and set up work control systems (e.g. testing of equipment) to make sure the standards of performance, quality, cost and safety are met
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. This could be a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Mechanical Engineering or other associated majors.
