An apprenticeship is usually four years, and will include some structured training through a registered training organisation to complete a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology.

Automotive Electricians are qualified to install new electrical parts or repair and maintain electrical wiring and components in mobile mining equipment and other vehicles. This may include electronic ignition, automatic transmission and other controls and air conditioning.

  • Isolating and diagnosing electrical faults or issues in computer-based equipment in vehicles.
  • Repairing, testing and maintaining electrical parts and wiring.
  • Dismantling and removing components as required

To become an Automotive Electrician you’re required to complete an apprenticeship and obtain a vocational qualification.
