Process technicians take raw materials, including minerals and resources, and turn them into their final forms, before they are turned into finished goods. They use tools and equipment to crush, grind and screen raw materials such as coal, copper and other metal ores, and gas products. Some roles may focus more on maintenance of plant machines and equipment used to process resources.
- Conduct site sampling and testing of samples for quality and optimisation purposes
- Conducting regular inspections of plant equipment to ensure they are functioning as expected
- Assembling and dismantling equipment and fittings of simple and complex machinery
- Operating plant equipment including conveyors, crushers, screening equipment, and other industrial processes
To become an Process Technician, you may need to complete some vocational qualifications before or during your work.
